HOCKEY ACADEMY P.E. 10 - 20 - 30 (5 credits)

Information Sheet:
Hockey academy P.E. is a 5-credit course. Students who are registered in the academy will get 5 credits for Physical Education. The course will be scheduled during block 1 in the first semester. Certified teachers and professional coaches from the St. Albert Sports Academy will provide instruction. The instructors from the academy have coaching experience from initiation to Midget AAA and playing experience that includes junior, college and professional hockey. On ice sessions will total between 2 to 3.5 hours per week. The sessions will include fundamental skill development combined with high tempo drills to prepare athletes for game situations.
Fundamental Individual Skills:
*Passing *Shooting *Deceptive stick handling *Play away from the puck *Skating
*Quick Feet *Agility/mobility *Offensive/Defensive Tactics *Power Skating
Goaltending:
*Skating *Crease movement *Rebounds *Passing/shooting *Angles
*Puck handling *Squaring to the puck
Goalie Instruction will be provided by ATC.
Off-ice P.E. outcomes will be met through a variety of activities:
Cross Country Swimming
Fitness Training B - ball
Martial Arts
Badminton
Handball Boxing Fitness
Football
The program cost of $400.00 will include transportation, jersey, non-certified instruction and programming.
Logistics:
The class will be offered during block 1 of the first semester. Students will have to be dropped off at Servus Place and transportation will be provided back to the school.
