Coach John Dedrick
Coach John Dedrick has been teaching and coaching at SACHS since 1993 and the Athletics Department Head since 2004. This is Coach Dedrick’s 7th season with a girl’s program that has qualified for provincials each of the last 6 years. 2010 saw the Skyhawks capture both the Edmonton Metro Premier Championship and the 3A Provincial Championship. Prior coaching experience includes, working with the boy’s program for 10 years, winning 3 City Championships (1997-98 won the Metro Premier Conference and finished 2nd at provincials). Coaching and playing basketball is still his passion, with his most recent “serious” playing experience taking place in Western Australia on a Division 1 Men’s Club team during a teacher exchange. Coach Dedrick has full Level 2 NCCP Certification and is presently the Alberta Schools Athletic Association (ASAA) Basketball Ranking Committee Member – Girls 3A (North Zone – Edmonton and area) since 2007. He is also fortunate to be coaching his daughter, Sarah, as part of this developmental group. His teams bring an aggressive style of play and look to run at every opportunity. The development of athletes able to make the next step to playing post-secondary is of paramount importance to Coach Dedrick, with numerous athletes having played ACAC or CIS basketball. |
